SBS Marine Solutions

Our Services

End-to-end commercial ship brokerage. Commission-only — no upfront costs, no cure no pay.

01

Sale & Purchase

As shipbrokers we act as intermediaries between parties in commercial vessel transactions. Whether you are looking to dispose of a vessel or add to your fleet, SBS Marine Solutions sources buyers and sellers through our international network.

We act as buyer's broker, seller's broker, or central agent depending on the mandate. All engagements are commission-only — no cure, no pay.

Our brokers have direct experience with the vessel types we handle. We understand what a trailing suction hopper dredger is worth, what its operational condition should look like at survey, and how dredging contractors evaluate an acquisition. That technical knowledge shortens the process and protects our clients.

  • Buyer representation and seller mandates
  • Market-wide vessel sourcing and shortlisting
  • Due diligence coordination — class records, drydock history, hull thickness surveys
  • Survey appointment and oversight
  • Negotiation under Norwegian Saleform, BIMCO terms, or bespoke MOA
  • Closing support — flag state registration, P&I insurance, crew transition
  • Delivery logistics coordination

Chartering

We connect vessel owners with charterers for time, voyage, and bareboat charter arrangements across dredging, marine construction, offshore energy, and port operations.

Charter requirements are often project-specific and time-sensitive. We work quickly to identify suitable tonnage, negotiate terms, and get parties to a binding agreement.

We work on both sides of the market — representing owners seeking employment for their vessels and operators requiring specific tonnage for defined projects.

  • Time charter, voyage charter, and bareboat arrangements
  • Dredging campaign support — TSHD, CSD, and split hopper chartering
  • Offshore wind farm support vessel chartering
  • Marine construction and cable-lay support
  • Charter party negotiation (BIMCO standard forms)
  • Vessel performance warranty review
  • Redelivery and off-hire dispute support

Newbuild Vessels

From specification development through yard selection, contract negotiation, construction supervision, and sea trials to final delivery acceptance. We handle newbuild projects from workboat scale to major dredging plant.

Yard selection requires balancing price, delivery schedule, technical capability, and track record. We maintain current relationships with yards in China, Turkey, the Netherlands, and France and can provide candid assessments of each based on recent transactions.

For government and port authority clients, we assist with the preparation of technical specifications suitable for public tender processes, evaluation of bids from multiple yards, and independent assessment of delivery programmes and milestone payment structures.

  • Yard identification and competitive tender management
  • Specification development and technical review
  • Makers list evaluation and negotiation
  • Shipbuilding contract negotiation — milestone payments, delivery guarantees, liquidated damages, warranty
  • Construction supervision and progress reporting
  • Factory acceptance tests and sea trials attendance
  • Delivery acceptance and flag state registration

Vessel Valuations

Desktop and onboard vessel valuations for sale/purchase, finance, insurance, fleet assessment, and dispute resolution. We cover all commercial vessel types within our portfolio.

Valuations are based on current market intelligence from active transactions, comparable sales data, and the physical condition of the vessel as assessed at survey. We are clear about the basis of valuation — desktop assessments carry different weight than onboard inspections, and we document the difference.

We do not provide valuations as a loss-leader to win brokerage mandates. If you need a valuation, we charge for it appropriately.

We provide life cycle cost analysis for vessel acquisition programmes — covering purchase price, fuel consumption projections, planned maintenance schedules, crew costs, spare parts sourcing, class survey intervals, and residual value estimates. This is particularly relevant for public procurement where award criteria are based on total cost of ownership rather than lowest initial price.

  • Desktop fair market value assessments
  • Onboard physical condition assessments
  • Finance and mortgage security valuations
  • Insurance replacement cost assessments
  • Fleet portfolio valuations for investment groups
  • Dispute resolution and litigation support valuations
  • Dredging plant, offshore support, tugs, barges, workboats

Transport & Mobilisation

Not every vessel is where it needs to be. We coordinate mobilisation via crewing, wet towage, heavy-lift shipping, and project cargo — getting your asset delivered to the required location.

Vessel delivery is frequently the most underestimated phase of a transaction. Regulatory approvals, crewing licences, towage arrangements, and passage planning all require experienced coordination. We have managed vessel moves from Northern Europe to Southeast Asia, West Africa, and South America.

We work with established tug operators, heavy-lift carriers (semi-submersible vessels), and project cargo logistics providers to manage complex mobilisation requirements.

  • Vessel delivery crew coordination
  • Wet towage arrangements — ocean and coastal
  • Heavy-lift transport on semi-submersible vessels
  • Customs, flag state, and port clearance documentation
  • Passage planning support
  • Insurance cover review for transit
  • Mobilisation of dredging plant, barges, and non-self-propelled units

Commission-Only Basis

No upfront fees. No cure, no pay.

We only get paid when the transaction closes.
